3 Point Beer Review: Picketpost Pilsner

Wow, this one really was impressive. Had a massive head of foam that I could float a quarter on (thanks to a proper pour), very reminiscent of Slow Pour Pils by Bierstadt. Plus it was carbonated to a high level, making it quite refreshing. It was fun to watch the bubbles aggressively rise in the glass. The aroma matched the flavor - Saphir hops (floral, spicy, citrus) plus French Aramis hops (herbal, citrus, spicy).

While this beer was listed as a German Pilsner, I thought it drank like an Italian one. Really outstanding and worth trying one out for yourself!

NOTE TO SELF: As I was reviewing this article it hit me that Brad used to brew Pivo Pils at Firestone Walker AND he is in charge of R&D currently at Wilderness! So it should come as no surprise that this beer presented very similar to Pivo Pils....

Named for Picketpost Mountain east of Phoenix, which has a red mailbox at the summit - now used as a trail register. This traditional German Style Pilsner is brewed with French Aramis and German Saphir Hops, and is perfect for a day of hiking.
